Connect Claude to WhatsApp yourself

Uses the open-source whatsapp-mcp server. Works with Claude Desktop. Connects to your WhatsApp via QR code — just like linking WhatsApp Web.

Install Claude Desktop

Download from claude.ai/download. This is separate from the browser version — MCP only works in the desktop app.

Install the required tools

You need Git, Go, and Python's uv installed on your computer. Download Git from git-scm.com/downloads and Go from go.dev/dl

Download the WhatsApp MCP server

Open Terminal and run:

git clone https://github.com/lharries/whatsapp-mcp.git
cd whatsapp-mcp

Start the bridge & scan QR code

Run in Terminal:

cd whatsapp-bridge
go run main.go

A QR code will appear in Terminal. Open WhatsApp on your phone, go to Settings → Linked Devices → Link a Device and scan the QR code.

Add the MCP server to Claude Desktop

Edit the Claude Desktop config file and add the whatsapp-mcp server connection. Full instructions in the whatsapp-mcp GitHub repository.

Do I need to be technical for self-setup?
You need to be comfortable running Terminal commands and editing a JSON config file. The guide walks through each command exactly. If that feels too technical, our done-for-you service handles it all.
Does this use my personal WhatsApp or a separate account?
It links to your existing WhatsApp account using the Linked Devices feature — same as WhatsApp Web. No separate number needed. Just scan a QR code on your phone once to connect.
Will my customers know it is AI?
